Jim is a Silicon Valley veteran and hands-on executive in software product development. His core areas of expertise are software architecture and product conceptualization and inception, including building high-performing teams and instituting fast, Agile, end-to-end development and deployment processes. Most recently, Jim has focused on using GenAI to accelerate and disrupt conventional software product development entirely. Jim has a Ph.D. in Physics (educated at Harvard and Duke), and has worked across multiple software domains including system software, embedded and IoT, FinTech, MarTech, MedTech, communications, automotive, and many others.
Jim moved to Silicon Valley in 1988, and since that time has worked at “name brand” companies including Borland, Rational (now IBM), NeXT Computer / Apple, and GlobalLogic, a Hitachi Group company. Along the way Jim worked at 7 startups, two as founder; 3 of the 7 became public companies. For 16 years, starting in 2009, Jim was CTO at Product Development Services company GlobalLogic, helping take them from a venture-funded company with a $100M annual run-rate to a member of the Hitachi Group with stand-alone $2B in revenues.
Jim retired from GlobalLogic in October of 2025, but has no intention of retiring from technology. In particular, Jim is excited to leverage his deep software knowledge with his education in Physics to work with companies in the area of of “deep tech” / “hard tech”–the convergence of software with the physical world.
Jim lives in Silicon Valley and the coast nearby. He can be reached at jim@digitindig.com; LinkedIn profile is http://www.linkedin.com/in/jim-walsh-a370871
